The Ladies' Oriental Shrine of North America, (LOSNA), was founded in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1903, when the Ladies of Osiris Shriners were invited to attend the social events and festivities surrounding a Shrine group's Spring Ceremony of Initiation. When the Shriners departed for their ceremony, the ladies were having so much fun, they didn't want to stop. Using a hotel conference room, the doors were closed, a guard was set, and within in that room, with dignity and sincerity, and without a ritual prepared paraphernalia, the first session of the Ladies' Oriental Shrine of North America was held and Isis Court No. 1 came into being. LOSNA conferences are held each year, a five day national one and several area weekend regional area meets. The LOSNA is not an auxiliary of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. They are a separate and distinct Order from us.
When the Shriners founded the Shrine Hospitals for Children and the first hospital was built in 1922, the Ladies committed to supporting the Shrine's official philanthropy. Today the LOSNA Courts continue to support the hospital fund, hospital sewing, pet therapy, research projects, and other areas of interest.

Each Court not only raises funds for the hospitals, they also donate clothing, stuffed animals, purchase equipment, staff the information desk in the various hospitals and serve as office personnel on a voluntary basis. The LOSNA contributes well over a half million dollars annually to the Shrine Hospitals. The Ladies do not stop at donating funds or the items listed. They also make the rounds of the hospitals with pet therapy, book carts furnish libraries for the children in the hospitals, hold pizza parties, ice cream socials, sew quilts, gowns, donate funds for playground equipment, donate funds to send a burned child to the Camp Ability Burn Camp, support research, donate examining tables, rocking chairs, poll tables, sofas for teenagers, prosthetic devices, wheel chairs, baby carriages, car seats, mini cars for the children, numerous wagons, high chairs, computer equipment and software, musical items and programs, and the list goes on. The Ladies do this by hosting many special events throughout the year such as craft bazaars, bake sales, dances, aluminum tab and box top collection projects, golf outings, cook outs, garage sales, dinners and social events, etc.
The Ladies support various special projects with special emphasis given to the LOSNA Special Project for the year which is chosen by the reigning Grand High Priestess. This special project is designed to assist an area of specific need within the Shriners Hospitals such as research into various childhood conditions.

ANKH Court currently has three units and one club. The units are: the Djinnis formed in 1979 and are charged with setting up for court meetings and taking care of new candidates during ceremonials; the Rosebud Klowns formed in 1985 who participate in parades, hospital visits, exhibitions and fun events; the Ambassador Unit formed in 2018 which promotes membership and public relations with other Masonic, Charitable, and Community organizations. All three units perform at the regional and national LOSNA conferences and hold fundraising events, donating money to the hospital and the community. The one club is the Past High Priestess Club which mentors new members and helps in providing support to the Court, to LOSNA, and to Shrine Hospitals. The units and club provide a fund atmosphere for all our ladies
